Last month SYMC announced the closure of BE.Cloud, which is totally surprising: while the rest of the industry is diving into cloud technology head first, SYMC is fully capitulating before competition. SYMC is clearly lagging in technology and momentum, while their management is totally clueless.
Many vendors used this to boost their client base offering Symantec’s BE cloud clients special deals. The first vendors to jump on the bandwagon were Unitrends, Asigra, Barracuda & a host of others.
My guess is that Symantec is losing the backup battle so badly that it may even consider to discontinue the Backup Exec line of products, because they are losing too many clients to more dynamic young vendors who offer better product and customer service. Please, read my old posts about SYMC to understand the possible reasons for their loss of competitive advantages.
